Anselm Kiefer: Velimir Chlebnikov is a monumental project by artist Anselm Kiefer in which he housed 30 of his paintings inside a rectilinear steel structure of his own design. Paying homage to the prolific Russian avant-garde philosopher Velimir Chlebnikov (1885-1922), the pieces are inspired by Chlebnikov’s writings – prompting a series of expressionistic works that delve into the deep, enigmatic theories of past and present. Produced on the occasion of Anselm Kiefer’s exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in 2006, this catalogue features reproductions of the paintings, installation shots, and an essay by Harry Philbrick.
